Thanzi Programme
Bringing research closer to policy making: improving the Health of All in East, Central, Southern and West Africa.
The Thanzi Programme is a community of researchers, policy-makers, students and research support professionals, who deliver research designed to inform improved resource allocation and financing of health in the East, Central, Southern and West Africa Regions. Our research agenda is led by local and regional demand, and is supported by sustainable and equitable collaborations.
Launched in 2017 with the foundational project, Thanzi la Onse (Health of All), the Thanzi Programme has since expanded to include multiple projects leading on innovative research-to-policy initiatives across the East, Central, Southern and West Africa Regions. Thanzi remains grounded in the ethos of locally owned, designed and led research.
Our work is characterised by employing three interrelated pillars of activity:
